EL PASO, TX-- Gerald W. Cichon, Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP), has announced a National Green Design Competition for a $10+ million LEED Green Affordable Housing Project supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
HACEP will grant $25,000 awards to the top three finalists of the National Green Design Competition. Award categories will also include Finalist and Honorable Mention. Additional follow-on AE services may be awarded for Phase II, which may provide the successful AE firm with a substantial level of business.
"This competition seeks our country's most creative architects," said Mr. Cichon. "We're looking for architects to give us amazing designs that are aesthetic, sustainable and energy efficient. We will carefully integrate the most innovative and sustainable green technology systems to provide a model for the country and affordable housing."
HACEP's goal is to create a spectacular international-quality integrated affordable housing development showing the latest and highest-quality sustainable design practices that minimize the environmental impact of its operations. HACEP launched this architectural competition to design cutting-edge social housing for El Paso. HACEP encourages participating design firms to develop a new exemplary architectural design for affordable housing.
The National Green Design Competition seeks the most talented architects to deliver bold, new, and exciting designs that positively impact the way we live. HACEP is looking for architectural design firms with backgrounds in sustainable architectural innovation to implement creative ideas within technical and financial parameters and utilize original design productivity technology and planning concepts.
