NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.-- NAIOP New Jersey, a chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, recently presented Adam Mengon, an Eagle Scout with Troop 96 in Newton, N.J., with the 2008 Frank D. Visceglia Memorial Scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship is granted to Eagle Scouts who have completed projects related to the environment and/or the economy, and who are planning to pursue a career that bridges those fields.
Adam Mengon earned his Eagle award – the highest level attainable in the Boy Scout association – after completing the design and construction of a new triple wheelchair ramp and platform at Baleville Congregational Christian Church in Hampton Township. Adam met all of the codes for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) using a Computer Assisted Design (CAD) program, and he and his crew logged more than 800 man-hours from the initial design phase until the final installation. Now a freshman at NJIT majoring in Chemical engineering, Mengon plans to become a petroleum engineer and seek “green” fuel alternatives.
Frank D. Visceglia, for whom the Scholarship Fund is named, served as president of NAIOP New Jersey and was a real estate developer and civic leader.
