ALBANY--The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has extended the deadline to December 31, 2007 for owners and managers of multifamily buildings to receive up to $100 for every air conditioner they replace with ENERGY STAR models.
NYSERDA promotes the use of energy-efficient room air conditioners by offering cash incentives toward the purchase of ENERGY STAR models to rate-payers in Con Edison service territory.
Sponsored by NYSERDA, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and Con Edison, this initiative offers an easy way for owners and managers of multifamily buildings to save energy and reduce environmental impact. Those replacing window and through-the-wall units will receive up to $100 towards a new ENERGY STAR qualified room air conditioner.
As an added incentive, multifamily buildings replacing 10 units or more can take advantage of bulk purchasing from participating retail partners. Also, contractors will pick-up and recycle the old units and building owners will receive $35 for each window unit and $100 for each through-the-wall unit replaced before December 31st.
