KINGSTON, NY—ScheinMedia announces the publication of comprehensive maps of green residential development projects in the New York metro region.
The maps, which can be found in the current February issue of New York House magazine and online at www.newyorkhousemagazine.com, include more than 100 high-performance developments, a number that is expected to grow as homebuyers realize the cost and lifestyle benefits of green designs. Three maps were created, depicting green developments in Manhattan, the surrounding boroughs, and the Hudson Valley.
“We knew that there was already a large inventory of green developments, however there was no map showing where they were so that you could have a bird’s eye view of just how the movement is growing in our area,” says Jonathan A. Schein, CEO and publisher. “We set about the task of doing the research – the result is quite amazing. The maps are intended as an essential resource for all architects, developers, brokers, and trades people and will be updated regularly. For a nominal fee, a developer can pay to hyperlink from the map to the property’s website.”
The map includes a compilation of data from the U.S. Green Building Council as well as from published reports which revealed that there are more than 100 residential projects—multi-family and single family—in the New York City and Hudson Valley regions. These residential projects and developments (which include several that are near completion or are set to break ground soon) include LEED-certified, LEED-pending, and high-performance green homes, apartments, mixed-used buildings, co-ops, and condos.

In the April/May issue of NYinc we will publish the first-of-its-kind Commercial Metro Green Developments Map. In addition to our research, we would like to hear from developers about their buildings to make sure that they are included on the map.”
