LIVINGSTON--Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers, Inc. announced that Principal Justin A. Mihalik, AIA, NCARB, was recently installed as the president of AIA Newark and Suburban Architects, a section of the American Institute of Architects.
This appointment was bestowed at the chapter's annual awards dinner, which was held on January 26th, 2008 at The Manor in West Orange.
Mihalik's goals include an increase of student awareness of the AIA, and involvement from recent graduates at the associate AIA level. The section will offer a program to match members to emerging professionals as mentors to guide them through the three year internship process.
As president, Mihalik is the official representative of his chapter and will be responsible for overall planning and implementation of day-to-day business, presiding over chapter meetings, overseeing the committee chairpersons and Board of Trustee meetings and representing the chapter at national and local conferences. The Newark and Suburban section represents over 500 member architects in the following counties: Essex, Morris, Union and Warren. Visit Newark & Suburban Architect's website at www.aians.org for current news, calendar, and featured projects of its section's members.
Mihalik has been in private practice for 10 years, specializing in the design of residential, retail and commercial mixed-use projects. He recently joined Jarmel Kizel Architects & Engineers, Inc., a full-service architectural and engineering firm with engineering disciplines in civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design, based in Livingston, N.J.
